Algorithms used in search engines are capable of exhibiting and amplifying gender bias, according to a new study. The research, conducted using a VPN-based internet search methodology, covered algorithms used by modern AI systems that can produce discriminatory outputs, presumably because they are trained on data in which societal biases are ingrained.
